UPDATE 3/27/2014: Kevin Taylor appeared in court Thursday morning, along with Jaquan Robertson, but a judge continued their cases until May 1.

Albemarle County police have made an arrest in connection with a deadly home invasion Wednesday.

One of the alleged suspects in a robbery gone wrong is dead and another is behind bars. Nineteen-year-old Kevin David Taylor II was arrested and charged with three felonies: burglary while armed, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and attempted robbery.

Albemarle police officers initially responded to reports of a home invasion and shooting just after noon. Inside the home on Townwood Court, they found 20-year-old Eugene Glover dead of a gunshot wound. Glover is considered a second suspect in the botched robbery.

Neighbors say they are shocked to hear something like this happened there.

"This is a safe neighborhood and I was really just in disbelief about what was going on here because not much goes on here,” said Shamir Herman McDonald, who lives nearby. “Children play in the streets and ride their bikes and things. Otherwise, it's quiet. I go to work and home not much goes on here."

Taylor left the home before police arrived but was later found and arrested. The two men inside the home who were taken to be questioned were later released.

At this point no charges have been filed against the people who live in the home on Townwood Court.

Taylor is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.

Albemarle County Police Department Press Release

An arrest has been made in connection to a home invasion that led to fatal shooting this afternoon in Albemarle County.

Kevin David Taylor II was arrested and charged with burglary while armed, use of firearm in commission of a felony and attempted robbery. All three charges are felony offenses.

Taylor was taken to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail where he is currently being held without bond. He is 19 years old from Albemarle County.

At 12:18 p.m. officers with the ACPD were dispatched to the 1600 block of Townwood Court for a call of a home invasion and shooting. When they arrived on scene, they found one man dead inside the home, the victim of a gunshot wound. The victim was later identified Ronald Eugene Glover Jr. He was 20 years old and from Albemarle County.

Two men inside the home at the time of the shooting were detained and taken to the police department to be questioned. They were later released.

Taylor, who left the home before police arrived, was later located and subsequently charged.

At this point in the investigation it appears Taylor and Glover were responsible for the home invasion.

The shooting is the first homicide of the year in Albemarle County.

Both the shooting and the home invasion remain under investigation.
