Cville Council Wants Changes to West Main Development
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
Charlottesville City Council says a proposed mixed-use development along West Main Street needs some changes before it's approved.
Tuesday night, council is expected to take up a special use permit for a proposed apartment complex on the corner of West Main and Roosevelt Brown Boulevard. The building would also include commercial space.
Council wants to reduce the number of four-bedroom units by 25 percent.
"Well it's a big development and we have to look at land use and what we as a city envision for various properties. What's an appropriate use for that space?" said Councilor Kristin Szakos.
If approved, the developer will also have to complete a traffic study and make sure construction does not impact the operation of the heliport at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
