CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
Artists walked the IX property in Charlottesville Sunday to brainstorm creative ideas for the space.
One idea includes making part of the park an outdoor theater.
The property owners and artists both want to develop the area into a place that inspires the public.
Artist Joe Schepps has already added a sculpture called “Byron's Telescope.”
“I am hearing an artist talk about putting a mural on one of these walls that is just kind of an eyesore right now,” Schepps said. “But if we can turn it into a thing of beauty, wouldn't that be so much better?”
Property owners hope to inherit work from the Tom Tom Festival.
The art park will cover 17 acres from Monticello Avenue to Elliot Avenue and from First to Sixth Street.
The interactive park is expected to open this spring or early summer.
