Albemarle County Police Department Press Release
The Albemarle County Police Department’s Traffic Unit has arrested 25-year-old Lance Sites of North Garden, Virginia for multiple traffic charges today January 17th.
Officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Monacan Trail and Plank Road due to traffic safety complaints; one being an ongoing complaint about a reckless and unusually loud motorcycle. The same motorcycle drove through police RADAR on January 16, 2014 at 120 MPH in a 60 MPH zone, but the officer was unable to catch up to the motorcycle.
While in the North Garden area on January 17th, a patrol officer investigating vandalisms, observed an orange motorcycle driving recklessly and riding on the rear wheel only on Monacan Trail.
Traffic Unit Officers responded to the area and were able to locate the orange Honda 600 RR. Officers followed the motorcycle on Plank Road in unmarked vehicles to avoid a high speed pursuit. The rider continued to ride on the rear wheel multiple times and accelerated far above the speed limit, as much as 75 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.
When the motorcycle pulled into a church parking lot near the intersection of Plank Road and Alberene Road, he was taken into custody without incident. The Honda 600RR has never been registered to Mr. Sites, had no exhaust pipe and the registration tag was from a car registration tag cut to the size of a motorcycle tag.
Lance Sites was arrested and charged with reckless speed 120 MPH in a 60 MPH zone, general reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, second offense, driving without insurance driving an un-ispected motorcycle and no registration.
Mr. Sites was released on a $2000.00 unsecured bond.
