RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The state is accepting nominations for teenagers to attend a forestry camp in June.
The Holiday Lake Forestry Camp is open to Virginians age 13 to 16 who are in good academic standing, have an interest in natural resources and have not attended a forestry camp before. The camp offers participants hands-on learning about wildlife habitat, tree identification, timber harvesting, reforestation, environmental protection and more. There are field trips, exploratory classes, outdoor recreation and a Lumberjack Field Day.
The camp is set for June 12-21 at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center near Appomattox. It's hosted by the Virginia Department of Forestry with support from conservation groups and others. The cost is $85.
