Bill To Expand UVA Executive Committee Heads To House

Posted: Updated:

A proposal in the state legislature to expand the size of the University of Virginia Board of Visitors Executive Committee will go to a vote in the Virginia House of Delegates.

House Bill 465, sponsored by Henrico County Republican Delegate Jimmie Massie, would increase the executive committee's maximum membership size from six to seven. Massie was asked to carry the legislation on behalf of the university.

The executive committee is currently comprised of a half dozen members of the board of visitors, vested with the full power and authority of the board in the interim between formal meetings.

The House of Delegates Education Committee approved the bill Wednesday morning. It now faces a full vote in the House, before crossing over for approval in the Senate.
