RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's public universities have seen little change in enrollment during the current academic year.
A report released Tuesday by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia shows fall enrollment was 214,667. That's just 27 more students than the total number enrolled in fall 2012.
The council's director of policy research and data warehousing, Tod Massa, tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the state remains on track to meet its goal of awarding 100,000 additional degrees by 2025, despite the flat enrollment.
Fall enrollment at private, nonprofit schools increased by 2,225 students, from 129,950 in fall 2012 to 132,175. Liberty University accounted for much of the growth, with an additional 1,331 undergraduates.
