Waynesboro Schools Request Funds to Close Budget Shortfall
Waynesboro schools are down in enrollment, which means a budget shortfall. According to school Superintendent Jeffrey Cassell, Waynesboro schools have 85 fewer students since last March, leaving them $400,000 shy of meeting their current budget.
After cuts in non-salary areas, the school board is asking the city for $96,000 unspent in the operating fund.
Cassell says level funding is the best he hopes for in next year's budget.
