Cville Nonprofits Team Up To Raise Awareness About Autism
Jefferson School City Center
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
Two Charlottesville nonprofits teamed up Saturday to raise awareness about autism.
The Virginia Institute of Autism, VIA, and the Charlottesville Region Autism Action Group hosted a pancake breakfast and workshop at Jefferson School City Center.
Part of the proceeds from the breakfast will support VIA.
The workshop taught parents and caregivers how to help children with autism as they transition into adulthood.
“We are [talking about] what happens when our students become 22 and are adults and are looking for support services beyond what they can have at the school level,” says Bobbi LaMarque, a speech pathologist teacher at VIA.
At the breakfast, people were also able to sign up for the Autism 5K in April.
