Louisa Man Found Guilty of Rape, Abduction

Posted: Updated:

A Louisa man was in court for his second day of trial on charges of raping a 22-year-old woman at knifepoint. Prosecutors say Henry Jasper, 33, forced his way into the victim's apartment and then sexually assaulted her in April 2013.

Thursday, an Albemarle judge found Jasper guilty of rape and abduction with intent to defile. The jury recommended that Jasper serve two life sentences and pay a $100,000 fine.

After the guilty verdict was read, Jasper threatened the victim in court, saying that she'd better watch her back because he was sending someone to get her. Jasper, who according to the Daily Progress tried to escape custody Wednesday night, will face additional felony charges for that threat.

After the trial, the family of the victim read a statement thanking law enforcement, the jurors, witnesses and the commonwealth's attorney for their work on the case.
