Civil War Trust, Partners Saved 2,700 Acres in 2013

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Civil War Trust says it helped protect more than 2,700 battlefield acres last year.

The trust says it worked with its partners, government officials and nonprofit groups to preserve hallowed ground throughout the states where the war was fought, from Missouri to Gettysburg, Pa.

In Virginia, the trust help preserve battlefield acres at Chancellorsville, Sailor's Creek, Second Manassas, Brandy Station and Cool Spring, among others.

The trust says it has worked with its partners through the years to save 38,500 acres at 1220 historic sites in 20 states.
