ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -
The Jefferson Area Board for Aging, JABA, is kicking off a food drive to provide seniors with a warm meal in the winter months.
JABA's annual Soup for Seniors collection is getting underway.
The donations of canned meats, vegetables, and fruits will support JABA's food bag program that delivers monthly bags of food to low-income seniors in central Virginia.
“During the winter, people have an even more difficult time to get out of the house so it helps supply their emergency food storage and also makes sure that people have basic nutrition,” says Leanne Prost, JABA’s manager of volunteer services.
You can drop off donations through Martin Luther King Day of Service on Monday, January 20.
