Albemarle After-School Program Fundraising to Keep Doors Open

Posted: Updated:
An after-school program in Albemarle County is asking for the community's help keeping its doors open.

Four years ago, the Y-Aspire program received a grant, but that money is running out. Twenty-five students from Stony Point Elementary School attend the program at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church.

One woman says if the program shuts down, she won't have anywhere for her daughter to go after school.

"It helps me because of my schedule coming here. She enjoys it. She gets her learning, the playtime she gets acquainted with other kids," said Charlene Cooper, a parent.

The program's grant money runs out in June. If you want to donate, call Stony Point Elementary at 434-973-6405.
