Hundreds in the Shenandoah Valley will ring in the New Year at the Augusta Expo in Fishersville. Guests will eat, drink and dance into 2014.
Planning for the New Year's Eve dinner, dance and silent auction began a year ago right when the last one ended. Organizers hope to put on a fun and safe event to welcome the New Year.
The night begins with dinner and live music and continues with a silent auction and dancing. The Augusta County Fair sponsors the event and is expecting to host about 200 guests.
Aside from the entertainment, the sales and bidding will go toward lowering the entrance fees for the summer fair. Organizers say they hope this one is the best one yet.
"This is a great way for people to have a great evening together. We've been selling tickets of eight to a table, so we have had a lot of friends who have come back together,” said Ellen Shaver-Shank, marketing director Augusta County Fair.
HammondTownsend law firm will foot the bill for cab fare for guests who need a safe ride home.
The dinner starts at 7 p.m. but for those still interested in the festivities, you can buy tickets at the door for the dance, which starts at 9 p.m.
