Juvenile Offender Escapes Custody in Staunton

Harrisonburg Police Department Press Release

Harrisonburg, VA – The Harrisonburg Police Department is assisting other law enforcement officials in the search for a juvenile male, who escaped custody yesterday.

On December 29, around 6:00 p.m. Rosel Guillen-Mendez, 16, escaped from a juvenile facility in Staunton, VA.

He is described as a Hispanic male with a medium complexion, approximately 6 feet tall, and weighs 200 pounds. He also has a tattoo on his right forearm of the word "Mendez."

Guillen-Mendez was in custody on charges stemming from an armed bank robbery that took place in Harrisonburg earlier this year in July.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Harrisonburg Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050. Tipsters may also text "HPD" plus the tip to CRIMES (274637).
