CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
The headquarters for First Night Virginia is officially open for business as crowds prepare to bring in the New Year in downtown Charlottesville.
Volunteers opened the ticket booth at the Omni Hotel on Sunday. Organizers call First Night Virginia a community celebration of the arts.
“There's something for everybody,” says First Night Virginia’s Drake Van De Castle. “We have theater, we have music, we have film. There's something for bluegrass and jazz, acrobats, Lincoln's body guard, something for everyone down here.”
Charlottesville's First Night is the second oldest in the country.
The New Year's Eve event starts at 3:00 Tuesday afternoon with performances for children.
Tickets are $5 for kids and $15 for adults. You can also purchase tickets at the Omni headquarters or online.
