Ticket sales for First Night Virginia are looking good this year. The event is an annual "community celebration of the arts" that takes place on New Year’s Eve. 2014 will be the 32nd one in Charlottesville, with many family-friendly activities on and around the historic downtown mall.
"Ticket sales have done well. Our online sales are ahead of schedule from last year so we're encouraged about that. But a lot of people wait to see what the weather is going to be like, and it's very encouraging. It looks like there's going to be no precipitation so we would encourage people to get their tickets early because they do go up the day of the event,” said Drake Van de Castle, an organizer of First Night Virginia.
Charlottesville's began in 1982 and is the second-oldest First Night in the country.
