With Christmas Over, Businesses Deal with Leftover Trees
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
Businesses that sell Christmas foliage sometimes face a problem at the end of the season - what do you do with the leftovers?
Several businesses, including Whole Foods in Charlottesville, say they were lucky enough to sell out of their Christmas trees this year but they still had wreaths, garlands, and poinsettias.
So in the spirit of the season, they decided to make a few people's holidays.
Whole Foods Assistant Manager Phyllis Tritto said, "We gave our wreaths to our team members and our customers just because, you know, we had so many left over and we wanted to be able to reach out to our community and share those with our community."
An area nursery takes a more economical approach; workers at Snow's Garden Center say they often grind up any trees left over and mix the chips into compost.
