Christmas Tree Recycling Program Starts Thursday

Posted: Updated:
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

While no one is suggesting you drag the Christmas tree outside tonight, it is time to start thinking about it.

Charlottesville will begin curbside recycling tree pick-ups starting January 6.

Albemarle County's program is starting even sooner. They'll be accepting trees starting Thursday at recycling centers, the program continues through January 15.

In both cases the trees will be turned into mulch. Please remember to make sure you've taken all of the decorations, anything metal and tinsel off them.

Last year Charlottesville and Albemarle County recycled nearly 5,000 Christmas trees.
