Orange County Family Says Goodbye with Christmas Celebration

Posted: Updated:

Christmas came a little early for one special girl in central Virginia.

Two-year-old Ellie Blaine had been battling brain cancer and her family could tell her disease was getting worse. So they called in a favor to Santa and asked him to come ahead of schedule over the weekend. Ellie was barely able to open presents, but her family says they feel blessed to have shared that time with her.

She died two days later, on Sunday. Ellie leaves behind her parents Carly and Richard, her 5-year-old brother Noah, and her baby sister Sarah-Grace, as well as thousands of friends, family, and supporters who have been following her journey.

Her parents say, "Ellie is not resting in peace but instead living in eternity, with no pain, no disease, and no heartache."

You can make a donation in Ellie's honor to Habitat for Hope or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
