Harrisonburg Police Investigate Credit Card Thefts

On November 24, 2013 officers from the Harrisonburg Police Department initiated an investigation of a theft of credit cards and subsequent fraudulent credit card transactions.

In this incident, the credit cards were stolen and later used to purchase gift cards and electronics from several local businesses. The offenders are described as a black male and a black female, approximate ages 30 – 45 (photos from surveillance footage are attached to this release).

All of the fraudulent charges took place in the Harrisonburg area. However, the investigation into this incident has indicated that the offenders may have ties to or at least passed through Pennsylvania and Maryland.

It is still under investigation whether this incident is related to additional reports of credit card thefts and frauds in the area.

HPD is encouraging anyone in the community who may know the identity of the individuals involved in this incident to contact the Harrisonburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 540-437-2640. Callers are able to remain anonymous by calling Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050.Tipsters may also text “HPD” plus their tip to CRIMES (274637).
