The owners of the Ix property in Charlottesville are moving forward with plans to unearth a hidden waterway.
The creek was buried many years ago to make way for streets and other development. Daylighting the creek is all part of the property owner's plan for a creative space that draws people together.
Charlottesville vice mayor Kristin Szakos said, “As we look at developments in some cases we are trying to daylight some of those streams. There are a lot of places in town if you lean down to the grate in the street you can hear water running underneath and that is not drainage on a dry day, that is a stream running underground.”
The property owners hope to begin construction in the spring and have the park space available to the community by summer.
