Rain Doesn't Deter Last Minute Christmas Shopping

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -

Sunday’s rainy weather didn’t stopping central Virginians from finishing up some last minute Christmas shopping. The Barracks Road Shopping Center parking lot was packed with cars and shoppers Sunday afternoon.

Sales associates at Bevello say there were shoppers waiting to come inside when they opened the store Sunday morning. Halfway through the day, the store had already made in sales what it typically brings in by close on a Sunday.

Shopper Andy Wilkerson stated, "Barnes and Noble was the most crowded, it's crazy in there, otherwise not too bad."

Shopper Josh Goering said, "I’m just doing a couple last minute things, so I was out on the prowl to try to find some books actually."

The big box stores like Best Buy, TJ Maxx, Marshals and Target have extended holiday shopping hours.
