Albemarle to Enforce Junk Car Ordinance Starting January 1

Posted: Updated:

Albemarle County is reminding people that new rules go into effect on January 1 about junk cars sitting outside.

The cars they're worried about are not in operating condition, don't have a valid license plate or inspection sticker, or have an inspection decal that has been expired for more than 60 days.

Starting next month, in residential zoning districts, those cars must be completely covered or screened so they can not be seen by neighbors - and tarps won't cut it.
