A man who pleaded guilty to malicious wounding after hitting a police officer with his pickup truck learned his sentence Wednesday.
A Charlottesville Circuit Court Judge sentenced Harold Tazewell Morris to spend a total of seven years behind bars on six different charges.
Police say Morris was drunk last March when he hit the back of a woman's car twice near the intersection of Long and High streets. Morris then hit an Albemarle County police officer with his truck.
He was originally charged with attempted capital murder, but that charge was reduced to malicious wounding when he pleaded guilty back in May.
