The Charlottesville municipal band held its 91st annual Christmas concert Sunday at the Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center.
Even though the show was free, many people in the audience brought canned foods as their admission.
“We all appreciate everything this community has done for us and it's an opportunity to do something that's visible to give back,” says clarinet player Laurie Keenan.
The band also collected cash at the concert. All donations will benefit the emergency food bank.
