Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Albemarle County

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) - A fiery crash on Route 53 in Albemarle County left one person dead and two others injured Sunday morning.

Police say officers found two vehicles on fire when they arrived at the scene in the 2900 block of Thomas Jefferson Parkway just after 3:00 a.m.

The name of the person killed in the crash has not been released. Police say, since there was a fire involved, they want to be exhaustive checking the victim's identity.

The two survivors were taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
