The five-month old American bulldog was left at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA earlier this week.
Shelter staff found him in the morning after a freezing cold night and brought him inside, only to discover he had two broken legs.
That's when the SPCA asked its supporters' to help pay for a $3,000 surgery for the dog the staff is calling “Miracle”.
“[Saturday] somebody walked in and wrote a check for Miracle’s entire surgery and so Miracle gets an early Christmas,” says CASPCA’s Lisa Lane.
On top of the $3,000 check, many other people pitched in donations.
The extra money will be used to help other dogs with broken legs.
Both dogs will be up for adoption once they heal.
