STAUNTON, Va (WVIR) - Christmas arrived early for a group of children in Staunton Saturday.

Habitat for Humanity held its annual Community Health Fair and Holiday Party.

The annual event gives families a free dinner, has live holiday music and of course toys for children.

It isn't just about celebrating the holidays though; it's about celebrating good health.

There were health checks for hearing, cholesterol, heart pressure, and even skin cancer. Information booths gave people the chance to learn about free taxes, avoiding insurance fraud and free dental care.

After dinner was served the kids each got to open new gifts.

They also had door prizes and fun activities for the kids - such as making crafts for family members. Children were given bikes from the Spokes program.

Rhonda Howdyshell with Habitat for Humanity says the event isn't just about presents and health checks; it's a way to bring the community together to bond.
