Thomas Jefferson's Albemarle County estate will soon run off public water and sewer lines.
Albemarle County supervisors approved Monticello's request last night despite the county's comprehensive plan restricting public utilities in rural areas. Supervisors believed Monticello's historical value and impact on tourism creates a unique situation.
This will eliminate the need for Monticello to build new septic fields at any point in the future.
