A Waynesboro school is piloting a new way of teaching and the feedback is all positive. Fifty diverse sixth-graders at Kate Collins Middle School are part of an interdisciplinary learning program called “mini-teams.”

Three teachers work together integrating math, science, English, and social studies for a common group of students.

"They're learning things in that integrated way that's more like what you and I would face in adulthood outside of just focusing on one content at a time,” said Allen Jervey, principal at Kate Collins.

Administrators say the interdisciplinary learning could be improving attendance.
