Insurance agents in central Virginia have some advice for anyone dealing with storm damage.
State Farm says it is a good practice to review your insurance plan after severe weather conditions. Agents recommend paying attention to details such as rental coverage in case your car is damaged.
They are looking for direct, physical loss when it comes to your car or home.
"Let's say a tree were to fall on your home due to the weight of the snow or the ice, there's going to likely be coverage for that because that's direct physical loss to the house. The other thing that can come into play is ice damming," said State Farm agent Gary Albert.
If you need to file a claim, you should have a camera ready to take pictures of the initial damage.
