Land donated to Albemarle County from Arrowhead Farm
Albemarle County is looking to two organizations to help care for some newly acquired land. Last week the county approved the donation of land at Arrowhead Farm off Route 29.
The Rockfish Valley Wildlife Sanctuary and the Ivy Creek Foundation have both offered resources to help care for the acreage, as well as plan for development, but Albemarle park leaders say that will take some time.
The plan is for the land to become a park full of walking trails. Before that can happen though, three other park development projects need to get done: plans for a second phase of development at Preddy Creek Park, a site acquired through a land gift known as the Hedgerow Property, and the development of a park on the Rivanna River at Buck Island Creek.
The county is now in the process of officially transferring ownership of the Arrowhead Farm property.
