One man is in custody after a police chase in Albemarle County that sent two people to the hospital.
Detectives were working on a criminal investigation when they tried tomake the stop.
Virginia State Police initiated the chase shortly after noon Monday on Route 20 near Interstate 64. The driver led police on a nearly 10-minute pursuit, slamming into another car in the process.
The driver took off in a white Ford F-150 onto I-64 after state troopers tried to pull him over. He then sped off the interstate, exiting westbound in the right lane on Monacan Trail Road.
The driver hit a Subaru Forester that was in the left lane while trying to swerve in front. He slammed on the brakes once he got ahead -causing the Forester to hit his truck from behind.
The driver was eventually stopped and taken into custody near Exit 118 on I-64 west.
The two people in the Forester were taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center with minor injuries.
Police say they cannot release the driver's name or any more details on the situation because it is an ongoing investigation.
Charges against the driver are pending.
