Charlottesville Family Gets New Home for the Holidays
Habitat for Humanity Charlottesville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
A mother and daughter in Charlottesville have a newly renovated home just in time for the holidays thanks to a Habitat for Humanity partnership.
The non-profit held a dedication ceremony for Ashley James in front of her house in the Sherwood Manor neighborhood.
“This neighborhood has had to suffer through a home that at least for five years has been blighted,” says Dan Rosenweig, executive director for Habitat of Greater Charlottesville. “It was empty, it was rotten and it was in need of a little TLC, and somebody to warm the home the way the home warms her.”
The home marks the first completed rehabilitation in the area as part of a nationwide Habitat partnership with Bank of America.
Bank of America has pledged to donate 2,000 vacant properties to Habitat affiliates across the country over the next three years.
