International students at Charlottesville High School celebrated their heritage Friday with a diversity show.
The students in the show represented many countries, and 10 percent come from immigrant or refugee families. Performances included the bamboo dance of the Karen people in Myanmar and an African song sung by the school choir.
One student performer, Quamia Dennis, said, "It's important because everyone wants to feel welcome, no matter where they're from or who they are, everyone wants to feel welcome in some kind of way."
Dennis says part of that welcome is feeling free to express yourself in a way that feels natural. She says the diversity show gives international students that privilege.
The show was held in the Martin Luther King Auditorium at Charlottesville High School.
