ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

Some neighbors in Albemarle County say they're concerned about a proposal to build a cellphone tower near an elementary school.

AT&T wants to build a 96-foot-tall tower in a field along Morgantown Road. The tower would be about 1,500 feet from Virginia L. Murray Elementary School. Researchers say that's the minimum safe distance for a cell tower near a school.

AT&T and Albemarle County staff will meet with neighbors at the site Thursday, December 12 at 9 a.m. to answer questions or concerns.
