UPDATE 12/5/13: Police confirm the medical examiner has determined the body found is that of Jamisha Gilbert.
Search and rescue teams have recovered the body of a black female just outside Lynchburg and teams looking for a missing teenager have been told to stand down.
At a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Lynchburg police said they have not positively identified the body at this point. The body was found about 10:30 a.m. in a heavily wooded area near Route 460 and Concord Turnpike.
When police arrived on scene, search teams were told to stand down in the search for missing teen Jamisha Gilbert. The News and Advance reports articles of clothing were found Wednesday morning as well.
Gilbert disappeared Friday night. Her car was found crashed and abandoned not far from where the body was found.
Lynchburg police have also roped off a building on Pleasant Valley Road in Farmville. There is a heavy police presence in the area but police aren't commenting on what's happening at this point.
The FBI says at this point it has no reason to believe this body is tied to the case of Alexis Murphy, a 17-year-old who has been missing from Nelson County since August.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-798-5900.
