Some VA Voting Equipment Doesn't Meet Requirements

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia elections officials say some voting equipment used in the November election doesn't meet state requirements.

State Board of Elections chairman Charles E. Judd says there should be uniformity in voting equipment used across the state. He says the lack of uniformity is problematic.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Judd and other board members discussed the issue Monday during a meeting.

Board secretary Don Palmer said some voting machines can't reject overvotes or undervotes. That would allow these ballots to be inspected manually.
