A hefty bond was posted for a valley pastor accused of molesting multiple teenage boys.
Sheriff's deputies arrested 61-year-old Larry Clark for the second time last week on a fresh set of felony child sex charges. Monday, the judge set a $25,000 secured bond, which was posted the same day.
Because the newest allegations only go back to this summer, as opposed to the other ones that dated back to 2011, the judge reasoned Clark posed more of a potential threat this time around.
The commonwealth's attorney asked at Rockbridge County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Monday that Clark face a higher bond this time. The prosecution believes his role in the church, where he is exposed to many young people, poses more of a threat to public safety.
Clark was most recently charged with four more counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, as well as two for endangering the morals of a minor. Police say he sexually abused a 15-year-old boy in a church van this past summer. In November, he was charged with similar offenses involving another 15-year-old boy.
Clark has led the Pentecostal Outreach Church in Buena Vista for 12 years, as well as filled in as a pastor at the satellite church in Verona.
His first preliminary hearing, which deals with the charges issued in the first arrest, will happen next Monday.
