Move2Health to Attend Greene Community Health Fair

(Stanardsville, Va.) -- Move2Health is moving through the counties of Planning District 10, and Greene County is next! To encourage Greene County residents to live more active lifestyles, William Monroe Middle School and Move2Health partnered to host the First
Annual Greene County Community Health Fair on December 7, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at William Monroe Middle School located at 148 Monroe Drive, Stanardsville, VA 22973.
Mark Arrington, Physical Education Instructor at William Monroe Middle School and host of the event, says, “I am hoping that this event will be the first of many successful events that helps our community understand the importance that health and fitness have on us every day”.
The event is free and open to anyone and offers a variety of activities for attendees to participate in and learn more about, including Zumba, the Amazing Race, Pilates, and Jazzercise. Attendees will be eligible to win cash and prizes from acac Fitness and Wellness Centers, Ragged Mountain Running Shop, and Anytime Fitness for participating!
Organizations, such as the UVA Children’s Fitness Clinic and acac Fitness and Wellness Centers will be available to provide information about healthy living and opportunities to get active in the community, both in and outside of Greene County. Attendees who have not already enrolled in the Move2Health Challenge will have the opportunity to register and log their minutes moved from the day.
Move2Health is a community campaign that encourages residents of the Thomas Jefferson Health District to add more physical activity to their daily routines. Participants log their minutes of activity on the Move2Health website. The campaign's current challenge is for everyone to move 30 minutes a day, five days a week, with an ultimate challenge goal to reach three million minutes moved by December 31, 2013.
