CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -

Holiday cheer greets travelers riding the rails through Charlottesville. The Christmas spirit arrived at the Amtrak station Monday morning.

Members of the Albemarle, Charlottesville, and Rivanna garden clubs decorated the West Main Street station with wreaths, ribbons, fresh garland, and a Christmas tree.

“Hopefully it'll feel a little bit like an old fashioned Christmas feeling and get them in the spirit for the holidays as they're joining family or headed off to see family elsewhere,” said Kim Cory, president of the Albemarle Garden Club.

The garden clubs call this 13-year-old December tradition their "gift" to central Virginia visitors and locals alike.
