RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Customers of Dominion Virginia Power and Columbia Gas of Virginia are getting a break on rates.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the State Corporation Commission approved rate reductions for both utilities on Tuesday.
The SCC approved a quarterly purchased gas cost adjustment for Columbia Gas of Virginia that will lower rates by about 8.2 percent. The decision will save residential customers $10.14 per month.
Following a biennial review of Dominion Virginia Power's finances, the SCC ruled that the company must lower its base rate. The decision will reduce the average residential customer's monthly rate by about 11 cents, or $1.32 annually.
