Charlottesville Prepares for Possible Winter Weather
Trucks prepared for winter weather in Charlottesville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
The city of Charlottesville and other central Virginia communities may not see much snow - but that doesn't mean the roads won't be slick Tuesday.
City crews say they're ready for anything. They have a liquid brine solution prepared and plan to be on standby in the early hours of the morning. The city can't pre-treat the roads because they don't know yet if the snow will be preceded by rain. Rain would wash away the salt solution, rendering it ineffective.
"Crews will be on standby early, early in the morning tomorrow to see if that's necessary. They'll be monitoring the situation all night, all day and all night, and treat it as necessary,” said Miriam Dickler, spokeswoman for Charlottesville.
As always with inclement weather, authorities urge everyone to drive carefully, especially on secondary roads that may not be treated right away. It's also important to remember to clear sidewalks of ice and snow.
