A program designed to help children across the world this holiday season is underway. Operation Christmas Child aims to make it easy for the community to give back on an international level.

The program is collecting boxes full of toys for underprivileged children in more than 90 countries, with a goal of collecting 8,000 boxes.

"I'm thrilled about it. Actually, we had about 500 boxes carried off last Sunday morning after our morning services. We're heart and soul into this. People say, 'why don't churches work together?' This is one of the times where we do work together. It is a community effort,” said Harold Bare, pastor at the Covenant Church of God in Charlottesville.

The boxes will be sent off Sunday. To view the list of pick-up and drop-off locations in central Virginia, click here.
