Two years of work culminated in a mural unveiling Friday in downtown Charlottesville. People gathered on First Street around noon for the dedication ceremony.
Artist Kaki Dimock says the work is meant to bring awareness to water conservation and stewardship of the Rivanna River.
"It's incredibly gratifying and satisfying to see your work in public and to have people be able to enjoy it and comment on it and ask questions about it and think about it, maybe be challenged by it,” Dimock said.
The mural was painted on a sheet at a separate location and pressed onto the side of the Tru PILATES building.
Dimock says her painting is also a celebration of the wonderful natural resources Charlottesville has.
