Last January, Waynesboro Parks and Recreation reached out to neighbors to try and provide more outdoor fun at Rosenwald. While the city picked up the majority of the $25,000 tab, the community raised $5,000.
Parks and rec Superintendent Susan Roberts says it's about making Rosenwald more than just a place to shoot hoops.
"A place for people to come when they get out of school, or in the evenings just to hang out with their friends. But some place that's safe and some constructive activities to get into and to not just hang out all the time, but to have some more choices,” Roberts said.
Roberts says both volunteers and ideas for programs are welcome.
