Calf from Augusta Recovering from Surgery at Texas A&M

Posted: Updated:

A Shenandoah Valley calf is now recovering from surgery that prepared him to be fitted with prosthetic hooves.

Hero was adopted a few months ago by Kitty Martin in Augusta County, after having lost his back hooves to frostbite.

The prosthetic legs he was originally given failed him, but Hero is now at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, where he will be fitted for new prosthetics in a few weeks.

Martin is moving her rescue operation from Greenville to Texas, located about 75 miles north of Austin.
