Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle County Emergency Communications Center Press Release
Citizens of Charlottesville and Albemarle County are encouraged to register with the Community Emergency Alert system to receive alerts about emergency situations. The Community Emergency Alert system is used by the Emergency Communications Center to notify residents and businesses of critical situations and provide information regarding necessary actions. With this system, a specific geographic area can be selected to send messages to those within that area. You can register to receive phone messages, text messages and e-mail messages in case of emergency. The system is TTY/TDD compatible.
Events that may generate a message from the Community Emergency Alert system include:
Register for Community Emergency Alert at https://acuecc.onthealert.com/. The Office of Emergency Management can be reached at 971-1263 or 970-1798 (8:30 AM-5:00 PM) if you need help with registration for any reason (e.g., no computer, no e-mail, problems with the registration form, etc.). If calling during non-business hours, leave a message and your call will be returned.
The Emergency Communications Center also has social media tools to help the community be aware of daily interruptions, such as road closure due to accidents.
