UVa Men's Basketball Crushes Navy 67-42

The UVa men's basketball team got a game high 18 points off the bench from Anthony Gill and Joe Harris added 16 points in Virginia's easy 67-42 win over Navy Tuesday night at JPJA.

Gill said, "I think it makes us look very dangerous. We just gotta keep working though. Skies the limit for us if we just keep buying into Coach Bennett's system and everything he wants us to do. We wanted to make a statement today so we came out, came in strong, guys came off the bench and we were working hard." Harris added, "There's a different guy every night that is putting up points, contributing offensively but I think its great for us to have that depth. It's something that we haven't had in the past. I think it will play a huge role as the season progresses."

Virginia's Malcolm Brogdon and Mike Tobey each had 13 points.  Virginia shot 57 percent from the field.  The Cavaliers struggled from 3-point range making just 7-of-25, and the 'Hoos also struggled at the free throw line making just 4-of-11.  42 of Virginia's 67 points came from in the paint.  Ten Cavaliers saw sufficient time on the court with four scoring double figures.

Head Coach Tony Bennett said, "Minutes were fairly balanced but when I look at the stat sheet and see that many guys in double figures and the minutes balanced out, I think that's positive. I didn't go with the big line-up. I wanted to take a look at that but it just didn't present itself."

Virginia improves to 3-1 with the win.  The Cavaliers' next game is at home Saturday against Liberty.
